Racers make a splash

45 swimmers compete at N. Ga. meet

The Dawsonville Racers swim team participated at the Frances Meadows Swim Center June 20.

  

The team had 45 swimmers compete in the  North Georgia Swim League Splash.

  

It was a big event with over 500 swimmers from 12 different teams competing in the competition.

  

Dawsonville had several swimmers place in the top 12. In the six and under division, Sarah Beth O’Saben came in fifth place in the freestyle, out of 35 swimmers, with a time of 28.17 and eighth in the backstroke (33.56).

  

In the 14 and under girls division, Lauren Dare finished in 11th place in the breaststroke with a time of 20.16.

  

Taylor Barrett placed 14th in the 12 and under 50-yard backstroke out of 50 swimmers and 13th in the 100-yard IM out of 38 competitors.

  

On the boys’ side, Grant McMahon crossed the finish line in sixth place in the six and under backstroke with a time of 36.24.

  

In the 25-yard freestyle, Morgan Jackson finished in eighth place (14.54) and Rhys Adams came in 12th (15.34).

  

Jackson also placed 11th in the 25-yard breaststroke and 11th in the 100-yard intermediate. Adams finished 12th in the 25-yard breaststroke, just behind Jackson with a time of 22.03.

  

Zachary Gerrells swam a great race in the 14 and under breaststroke event.

Gerrells came in seventh place, out of 28 swimmers, with a time of 17.86.
