The Dawson County High School varsity Lady Tigers softball team played its first game in eight days last Thursday. Despite the time off the Lady Tigers didn’t miss a beat and came away with a 9-1 victory against Rabun County.

It was a classic battle between two county rivals last Saturday evening at Tiger Stadium. Anytime Dawson County and Riverview middle schools play the outcome usually comes down to the fourth quarter.

Weather played a major role this week for the Dawson County High School softball team. Thunderstorms on Tuesday caused a cancellation of a game at Pickens County, which was played on Wednesday under threatening skies in Jasper.

Season starts Friday

Season starts Friday
Football season is finally here. The Tigers, under head coach Jeff Lee, will travel to Jasper this Friday to take on the Pickens County High School Dragons in the opening game of the 2010 season.

Eagles on the right track
The Riverview Lady Eagle softball team is playing great. Jeff Compton’s team is currently 2-1 on the season.




Rivals to meet on Saturday
Both of the county’s middle schools will open their football season this Saturday, against each other.  To top it off, the teams will play at Tiger Stadium on the campus of Dawson County High School.




Weather dampening season
The Dawson County Middle School softball team just can’t catch a break with the weather. On Friday, the Lady Tigers played host to Union County. Trailing just 3-2 in the third inning lightning was detected in the area and players were removed from the playing field.
