Racing legend to compete in Daytona

Bill Elliott announced last week a partnership that will put the 1988 Cup champion from Dawsonville behind the wheel of a blue No. 50 Walmart-sponsored Chevy in the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway in July. Tigers claw way to victory

Dawson County fought back from a 9-point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat Banks County, 64-58, last week. "This was a really important win and biggest win of the year," said head coach Thad Burgess. "Our kids were down 9 points in the last quarter and we were able to keep battling and make the plays at the end. We showed great effort and dedication against Banks." Read More

The Dawson County junior varsity girls basketball team lost a close contest to East Hall in Dawsonville last week. Jordan Moore led the Lady Tigers in scoring with 9 points in the 35-31 loss on Jan. 27. Read More

The junior varsity boys basketball team played two close games last week. Both games came down to the very end before Dawson County lost to East Hall, 55-47, on Friday in Dawsonville and Banks County, 54-50, in Homer. Read More

Lady Eagles take down Jasper

The eighth grade Riverview Lady Eagles defeated Jasper Middle School, 31-27, last week. Tabitha Morrison led all scorers in the Jan. 24 game with 13 points. Read More



Eighth graders lose to Fannin County

Head coach Jonathan Tinsley's eighth grade boys basketball team at Dawson County Middle lost a close 41-35 match-up against Fannin County last week at home. The Jan. 19 game was close throughout with the visiting Rebels. Read More



Lady Tigers still undefeated

The Dawson County Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team remains undefeated after manhandling Fannin County, 31-6, last week. Coach Tina Brown's team is currently 8-0 for the season. Read More

The Riverview Middle School eighth grade girls basketball team dropped a close 32-28 decision last week to Pickens Middle in Jasper. With the Jan. 17 loss, the Lady Eagles are currently 4-5 on the season. Read More



Lady Eagles heating up

The Riverview Middle School eighth grade Lady Eagles are getting hot at just the right time of year. With the Mountain League Tournament just around the corner coach Rhonda Sillesky's team pulled off two big wins last week. Riverview defeated Lumpkin County, 36-17, and Clear Creek, 33-30 to move the team's record to 4-4 on the season. Read More
